I do not remember how I found myself for the first time at Hello Kitty Hell – I believe it was trough Mundo Rarito but I am not sure. Anyway this is the right place to confirm all your possible fears relating with the Pink Cult of the dreadful kitten whose pink shadow overcast already the once Untouchable Star of Mickey Mouse. (Anyone who has any doubts about who is Hello Kitty and why it is an omnipotent icon of Kawaii Universe can check it under corresponding links in wikipedia) HK Hell is a site made out of anger of “one man with life overload with cuteness” – an incomparable archive of categorized Hello Kitty (Pink) Madness: Hello Kitty Tattoo

The idea of HK costume have long story – I remember my astonishment when some years ago I started to notice different Sanrio characters wearing outfits of another ones (ex. HK in the costume of My Melody or vice versa), later during my visit to Japan I found out that virtually any bigger city have its regional version of HK with characteristic costume (for ex. HK in Deer costume at Nara, HK in Lavender Costume at Sapporo etc.) The idea of HK costume for children seamed obvious as Japanese know no mercy when the matter is Kawaii: creation of pet costumes I assume was only a natural next step to follow immediately. I remember once to get across a porno set entitled Hello Clitty with chinease girl (Kiko Wu) masturbating using HK vibrator. I do not doubt that in the land of Cosplay HK costumes entered already into adult industry but this is too much even for me. Kontynuując wątek z poprzedniej, utkanej wobec fotek Sabriny Dacos, notki (żeby w pełni docenić jej podejście do fotografii erotycznej trzeba primo założyć sobie konto na flickerze, secundo zostać przez nią zaakceptowanym jako wirtualny przyjaciel) jeszcze jeden różowy obrazek pochodzący z jednej z zajawek met-art.com. Z oczywistych względów wzbudził on moją sympatię. Małą selekcję szczególnie interesujących zdjęć znalezionych na stronach XXX zintegrowałem z przedstawieniami o innej naturze ale podobnym impakcie w projekcji The Best of The Rest (Antyfotografia, Arsenał, Poznań, Maj 2007; aktualnie “Znaki Czasu”, Piotrkowska 96, Łódź, Październik 2007). Pojawiają się tam m.in. trzy zdjęcia Grigori Galitsina (jedne z nielicznych o identyfikowalnym autorstwie) założyciela Met-Art który wraz z żoną Valentiną od ponad roku już siedzi w jakiejś rosyjskiej tiurmie – ponury to finał dla tak różowo się zapowiadającej kariery wybitnego rosyjskiego pornografa. Una pequena selección de las particularmente interesantes fotos encontradas en las paginas XXX he integrado juntos a otras representaciones de distinto carácter pero parecido impacto en la proyecciónThe Best of The Rest (Antyfotografia, Arsenał, Poznań, Mayo 2007; actualmente “Znaki Czasu”, Piotrkowska 96, Łódź, Octubre 2007). Aparecen allí también tres fotos de Grigori Galitsin (unas de las pocas imágenes de las cuales puedo identificar el autor)- el creador de Met-Art quien juntos con su esposa Valeria esta desde mas de una ano encarcelado en Rusia. “The Best of The Rest” jest efektem poszukiwań w obrębie tego co definuje się jako “naj” w przestrzeni powszechnej wymiany obrazu. Prezentuje więc to, co najbardziej absurdalne, zachwycające, dziwne, wspaniałe, straszne czy śmieszne – kody uwagi/dostępności natychmiast rozpoznawalne. Jest próbą zbliżenia się do tego, co tworzy uniwersalny alfabet obrazu. Uniwersalny nie tylko jako współczesny i powszechny lecz także jako odnawiający się we współczesności.

Kaskady obrazów zalewają nieustannie nasze oczy, zasilamy je my sami generując czy rejestrując kolejne przedstawienia. “The Best of The Rest” to Image Wall skonstruowany całkowicie na bazie plików zapożyczonych z sieci. Zdjęcia te w znacznej mierze uzyskały już byt niezależny, którego ceną jest anonimowość ale taka właśnie możliwość bezpośredniego włączenia się w wartki nurt kultury wydaje się być dziś najbardziej obiecującą formą istnienia dla obrazu.

Będziemy więc mieli tutaj to co wzniosłe, potężne, słodkie, niewinne ale zobaczymy też głupotę, brud, przemoc i żałosne upokorzenie, czasami piękno, czasami absurd par excellence, czasami dar, talent albo też moment spontanicznego powstawania metafory; powrócimy do kultu siły, władzy i porządku, do uroków satanizmu i pogaństwa aby, po kompromitacjach romantycznych i humanistycznej czkawce, dać się uwieść urodzie rozkoszy – obraz jako narzędzie pokusy pokazuje tu ogon w całej swej krasie. Pełen potencjał dramatyczno-liryczny gwarantowany a wszystko to w ramach Kultury Popularnej, a więc niezwykle realnej. Aktualność zamienia się tu w absuralność i vice versa, blasfemia tańczy charlestona z radykalizmem. Wojna, śmierć, dupy, cycki, przysłowiowe “Kurwy i Faszyści” ale też słodycz sieroctwa, zmysłowość zniszczenia – konwersja znaczeń, fantasmagorie i deformacje ale przede wszystkim Niezwykłość, Głód Niezwykłości – The Primal One.

To wszystko jak litania: nagi mężczyzna z kosą brodzący w rzece, pacholę wtykające wujkowi kij w zadek. Pojawiają się wyzwania i akty odwagi czy niesforności takie jak public nudity czy pokaz alternatywnej mody gdzieś z odmentów Rosji. Lektury mogą być wieloplanowe, możemy skoncentrować się też po prostu na kulturze obrazu albo jego impakcie, czy też jego kontekście psychoanalitycznym albo politycznym; mnie osobiście interesuje szczególnie moment przenikania przedstawień do obszaru powszechnej dostępności i uwagi. Starałem się wyeliminować w tym pokazie obrazy oczywiste w kontekście sztuki, takie jak np. zdjęcia z akcji Vanessy Beecroft czy stillsy z filmów Matthew Barneya, choć integrują się one doskonale w tej przestrzeni. Podobnie postąpiłem w przypadku własnych fotografii chcąc zachować czystość eksperymentu. Myślę jednak, że dla każdego z formułujących się na platformie sztuki powinnien być satysfakcjonujący moment absorbcji przez powszechny język obrazu. Jeżeli “moje” różowe trumny zaczynają żyć własnym bytem niezależnie od kontekstu “mojego” projektu czy też sztuki rozpoznanej jako taka, to jest to dla mnie momentem spełnienia.

Oczywiście wydobywanie z anonimowości gwiaz prawdziwych jest procesem równie istotnym dla kultury – na tym polu doskonale zresztą sprawdza się idea Wikipedii. Ale nawet wobec tego, że wspaniali pornografowie, przyrodnicy czy niezwykle czujni amatorzy zasługują na rozpoznanie i zapamiętanie, najważniejsze pozostaje życie obrazu – uczestnictwo w procesie tworzenia ech, wzbudzania rezonansów, komunikowanie i przeżywanie rozwija nasze głowy i dusze, jest esencją kultury.

Jedynym kryterium wyboru był tutaj potencjał dramantyczny, estetyczny, symboliczny obrazu. Zdjęcia użyte do projekcji pochodzą z różnych platform publicznych, w tym prawie połowa z Fishki.net – wyjątkowo bujnego rosyjskiego forum ciekawostek. Jako soundtrack użyto kawałków Metaliki z płyt “Ride The Lightning” i “Master of Puppets” – tu wielkie podziękowania dla Jacka Sienkiewicza za czujne nocne klejenie.

The Best of The Rest

“The Best of The Rest” es el efecto de la búsqueda dentro de lo que se define como “lo más” en el común espacio de intercambio de imágenes. Presenta entonces, lo que es lo más absurdo, extrano, maravilloso, terrible o gracioso – los códigos de atención / accesibilidad inmediatamente reconocibles. Es un intento de aproximarse a lo que constituye el ABC universal de la imagen: universal no únicamente como popular y contemporáneo pero también como uno que se renueva en el presente.

Las cascadas de las imágenes constantemente hunden nuestros ojos, las alimentamos nosotros mismos generando o registrando las siguientes representaciones. “The Best of The Rest” es un Image Wall construído enteramente en base a archivos encontrados en la Red. Éstas fotos en gran parte ya alcanzaron una vida independiente, cuyo precio es el anonimato, pero justo ésta posibilidad de unirse directamente a la rápida corriente de la cultura parece ser hoy en día ser la forma de existencia más prometedora para la imagen.

Vamos a tener aquí entonces lo elevado, poderoso, dulce, inocente pero vamos a ver también la estupidez, basura, violencia y miserable humillación, a veces belleza, a veces absurdo par excellence, de repente talento, don o un momento de la espontánea aparición de la metáfora. Vamos a regresar al culto de poder y del orden, a los encantos de satanismo y paganismo para, después de pasar por el fiasco romántico y el hipo humanista, dejarse seducir por la belleza del placer. La imagen como herramienta de la tentación muestra acá la cola de pavo real en todo su esplendor. El pleno potencial dramático-lírico garantizado y además todo esto dentro del parámetro de la cultura popular – la muy real entonces. Lo actual se convierte acá en el absurdo y viceversa, la blasfemia baila el charleston con el radicalismo. Guerra, muerte, culos, tetas, “las putas y los fascistas” pero también la dulzura de la orfandad, la sensualidad de la destrucción – conversión de significados, fantasmagorías y deformaciones pero más que nada lo Extraordinario, la Sed de lo Extraordinario – The Primal One.

Todo esto como una letanía: un hombre desnudo con la guadana sumergido en el rió, un ninito metiéndole a su tío una rama en el culo. Aparecen provocaciones y actos de valor o necedad como “public nudity” o pasarela de moda alternativa proveniente de las profundidades de Rusia. Las lecturas pueden ser multiniveles, también podemos concentrarnos simplemente en la cultura de la imagen o en su impacto, en su contexto psicoanalítico o político; a mí personalmente lo que mas me interesa es el momento de la difusión de imágenes a la zona de la común atención y acceso. A pesar de que se integran perfectamente aquí, traté de eliminar de ésta presentación las imágenes obvias en el contexto de arte, como por ejemplo las fotos de acciones de Vanessa Beecroft o stills de las películas de Matthew Barney. Por la misma razón queriendo mantener la pureza del experimento, evité también introducir mis propias imágenes. De cualquier manera pienso que para quienes están manifestándose en la plataforma del arte debería ser satisfactorio el momento de absorción a la dimensión del lenguaje común de la imagen. Cuando “mis” ataúdes rosas empiezan a vivir su propia existencia, independiente del contexto de “mi” proyecto o del arte reconocido como tal, es para mí un momento de realización.

Obviamente revelar las verdaderas estrellas desde el espacio del anonimato es un proceso igual de importante para la cultura – en este campo funciona perfectamente la idea de Wikipedia. Pero incluso considerando que los maravillosos pornógrafos, biólogos o atentos aficionados merecen ser reconocidos y recordados, lo más importante sigue siendo la Vida de la Imagen – la participación en el proceso de crear ecos, despertar resonancias, comunicar y sentir hace evolucionar nuestras cabezas y almas, es la esencia de la cultura.

El único criterio de selección en este caso fue el potencial dramático, estético, simbólico de la imagen. Las fotos utilizadas para la proyección provienen de diferentes plataformas públicas, la mitad del “Fishki.net” – un particularmente abundante forum ruso de curiosidades. Como pista sonora se ha utilizado una mezcla de diferentes canciones de Metallica (mayormente de los discos “Ride The Lightning” y “Master of Puppets”)- aquí mis sinceros agradecimientos a Jacek Sienkiewicz por su edición nocturna.

Continuing the motives from previous post woven around Sabina Dacos photos (To fully appreciate her approach to erotic photography you must first create your own flicker account and then be accepted by her as friend) at the beaginning of the above post one more image from one of the previews of met-art.com. For obvious reasons it awaked my sympathy. Lately I incorporated a small selection of particularly interesting pictures from XXX sites along with images of different character but similar impact into my The Best of The Rest project (Antyfotografia, Arsenał, Poznań, Mayj 2007; recently “Znaki Czasu”, Piotrkowska 96, Łódź, October 2007) Three photos from Grigori Galitsin – creator of MA – also appear in there (actually those are ones of very few that are traceable to the orignal source). Galitsin together with his wife Valetina is imprisoned from more than one year right now – dark ending for such pinky career of this excellent Russian pornographer. Exploiting the opportunity I am adding below the never published before statement of “The Best of The Rest” project.

The Best of The Rest

“The Best of The Rest” is an effect of the research inside of what can be defined as “the most” in a common space of image exchange. So it is showing the most -absurd, -enchanting, -strange, -marvelous, -terrible or -funny – codes of attention / accessibility immediately recognizable. It is a try to approach to what constitutes the universal ABC of image. Universal not only as contemporary and common but also as one that renews itself in the present.

Cascades of images fall constantly over our eyes, we are feeding them ourselves generating or registering the next representations. “The Best of The Rest” is an “Image Wall” built entirely on the base of files found on the Web. Most of these photographs already reached a state of independent being which its price is anonymity but exactly such possibility of direct participation in the fast current of culture seams to be the most promising way of existence for the image nowadays.

So we will have here what is glorious, powerful, sweet, innocent but we will see also stupidity, dirt, violence and miserable shame, sometimes beauty, then absurd par excellence, sometime a gift, talent or the very moment of spontaneous appearance of metaphor. We will go back to the cult of power and order, to the charms of satanism and paganism to let us be, after romantic failures and humanistic hiccup, seduced by the beauty of pleasure – image as a tool of temptation is showing here a peacock tail in all its splendor. Full lyrical-dramatic potential guaranteed and all that within popular culture so the very-real one. The current changes here into absurdity and vice versa, blasphemy is dancing charleston with radicalism. War, death, asses, teets, “nazis & whores” but also the sweetness of orphan hood, sensuality of destruction – conversion of meanings, phantasmagoria and deformity but above anything the Extraordinary, The Thirst of The Extraordinary – The primal One.

All this like litany: naked man with the scythe walking in the river, little child sticking a dead branch in his uncle’s butt. Provocations and acts of value or naughtiness like “public nudity” or an alternative catwalk from depths of the Russia will appear. The lecture can be multilayer, we can also concentrate only on culture of the image or its impact, or its psychological or political context; to me personally the most appealing is the point of diffusion of the images into the space of common accessibility and attention. I?ve been trying to eliminate in this show images that are obvious in the art context like photos from Vanessa Beecroft’s actions or stills from Matthew Barney’s movies although they integrate perfectly into that space. For the same reason – to preserve the purity of the experiment – I didn’t insert here any my own photographs. In spite of that I believe that for anyone who manifests himself in the art platform should be satisfying th moment of absorption into the dimmension of common language of the image. If “my” pink coffins start to live their own life independently from the context of “my” project or Art recognized as such – this is a moment of fulfillment for me.

Obviously revealing the true stars from the space of anonymity, is a process equally important for the culture – on this field idea of Wikipedia works perfectly. But even that great pornographers, biologists or particularly sensitive amateurs deserve recognition and memory, the most important remains the life of the image – participation in the process of creating echoes, awaking resonances, to communicate and to feel develops our heads and souls, is the essence of the culture.

The unique criteria of selection were here the dramatic, aesthetic, symbolic potential of the image. Photos used in the projection are comming from different public platforms, in it about half from Fiski.net – particularly rich Russian forum of curiosities. As a soundtrack Metallica songs were used (mostly from “Ride The Lightning” and “Master of Puppets” LP’s) – here my big thanks to Jacek Sienkiewicz for his night shift mixing.
