Our 2001 trip to Cambodia gave me sort of post-war alike experience. Most of the hand painted ads I saw were annoucing hairdressers and dentists. One brand of bear, gasoline sold in recycled bottles – rudimentary reality. What is Luxury? Remember black market highlights: Chocolate, Cognac, Perfumes, Nylons… Remember the King…

Tinker Bell był niski i żylasty. Skórę miał matowobrązową, oczy małe, brunatne i łuszczący się nos. Z zawodu był postrzygaczem owiec, ale tu, w Changi, nie było lepszego fryzjera.
– Co to, masz urodziny? – spytał. – Robiłem ci manicure nie dalej jak przedwczoraj.
– A dzisiaj zrobisz mi znowu.
Tinker wzruszył ramionami i wyskoczył przez okno. Król rozsiadł się na stojącym pod okapem krześle i z zadowoleniem rozluźnił wszystkie mięśnie, a Tinker owinął mu szyję serwetą i ustawił głowę pod właściwym kątem.
– Spójrz tylko, bracie – powiedział podsuwając Królowi pod nos małe mydełko. – Powąchaj.
– Ej, to prawdziwy cymes – rzekł Król uśmiechając się szeroko.
– O takiej marce nie słyszałem. Ale słowo ci daję, bracie, że to jest fiołkowe Yardleya! Jeden mój koleś ściągnął je na robotach. I to prosto sprzed nosa jakiemuś Japońcowi. Kosztowało mnie trzydzieści dolarów – powiedział Tinker. Przy podawaniu podwójnej ceny mrugnął okiem.
– Jak chcesz, to zachowam je specjalnie dla ciebie.
– Wiesz co? Będę ci płacił za golenie piątkę zamiast trzech, dopóki się nie wymydli –
zaproponował Król.
Tinker prędko obliczył w myśli. Mydło mogło starczyć na osiem, może dziesięć goleń.
– Daj żyć, chłopie – odparł. – Ledwo wyjdę na swoje.
– Dałeś się nabrać, Tink – mruknął Król. – Takie coś to ja mogę kupować na kilogramy po
piętnaście za sztukę.
– Cholerny świat! – wybuchnął Tinker udanym gniewem. – Żeby koleś mnie brał za frajera! Tego już za wiele! – Z furią mieszał pachnące mydło w gorącej wodzie, aż utworzyła się piana. Roześmiał się. – Nie ma co, chłopie, faktycznie jesteś Królem.
– A jak – odparł z zadowoleniem Król. Od dawna był z Tinkerem za pan brat.

Brutal Ink is on. I am heading home. I am very glad about this “double feature” – I belive that our projects support each other well and from all those “comparative typologies” we are showing one can clearly see that in this “Whole male universe”, however chauvinist or even misogynistic it could get, the Woman keeps being central figure. Big Thanks to Sebastian & Nahuel for they interest, professionalism & friendship. A bunch of ink soaked flowers for Hank, Dan, Dejan and the whole Amsterdam Tattoo Museum crew for they participation. I don’t think that Nabokov or Carroll ever dreamed that their subversive little divas will become erotic fantasy standard at the beginning of XXI century. Lolitas, in all the range of phenomena – from plain schoolgirl to sophisticated Gothic Lolita – rule over the Internet. The amount of blogs dedicated to them is uncountable. Otaku culture made a solid base here that was widely expanded by emo-alike followers. The mélange of kawaii and gore, hardcore sentimentalism, theatre of innocence, pseudo-rococo, post-romantic / post-baroque love-death obsession, however superficial, had become important components of the contemporary. It’s a fact. Actually never sex and death had been so close at the popular level. Japan lost the II WW but definitely win the final pop-cultural battle of the millennium. West is infected by perverse cult of deadly cuteness. Lolita has become a true icon of post-modernism.

Jardín Ramón López Velarde – por años mi mas cercano parque del barrio. Un verdadero parque DF-eño – algo rudo y bastante tropical a la vez. Quizás mas conocido por su bolas de concreto – abstracta escultura publica visible desde la Avenida Cuauhtémoc. Su Zona de juegos esta hecha a la antigua – con bastante concreto y algo de pintura. Tiene un indudable encanto. Destacan los montes artificiales salpicadas con piedras multicolor. En uno de sus extremos hay una cruda rampa de patinaje pulida por generaciones de niños con ganas de divertirse. El vendedor de refrescos instalado en su proximidad se vio bastante listo: renta charolas de plástico recicladas de cajas para papa – cinco pesos el tiempo ilimitado. El trineo sin nieve es una experiencia inolvidable. El otro día nos divertimos como enanos. Mañana tal vez vamos con Juli. Viva la ingeniosidad Mexicana!
