Antonia Sancheza znam już 17 lat – z wykształcenia grafik zawsze zaskakiwał mnie swoją wyjątkową wrażliwością. Tonio jest autorem wielu projektów i niezliczonych grafik. Współpracuje często z Jorge Covarrubiasem – architektem wraz z którym zaprojektowałem sieć sex shopów Erotika. Przy jednym z projektów architektonicznych spotakliśmy się we czwórkę: Jorge zaprojektował dom, wspólnie z Jeronimem zrobilimy ogród, ja zaprojektowałem mozaikę do luster wodnych a Tonio nieprawdopodbną futurystyczną przestrzeń piwnicy win. Ostatnio Sanchez współpracuje ze swoim byłym chłopakiem – wschodzącą gwiazdą hiszpańskiej modey – Carlosem Diez Diez. Znając “Grafiki z Saturna” – serię niesłychanie subtelnych, generowanych komputerowa przejrzystych przestrzeni zaprosiłem Antonia do udziału w PND! licząc na wyrafinowany Cyfrowy Róż. Nie zawiódł moich oczekiwań – powyżej i poniżej dwie z trzech grafik składających się na serię “Pi-ink” (prezentowanych w formie lightoboxów na PND!, tu w miniaturze). Moje zakusy wobec Tonia nie skończły się jednak na tej tylko pracy: znając jego predypozycje do “urokliwej śliczności” (jak to powiedzieć po polsku – kawaii/cuteness) nabrałem ochoty aby poeksperymentować również z tym aspektem jego osobowości. W efekcie Tonio zaproponował mi serię zdjęć nowo narodzonych szczeniaków swojej białej boxerki. To było to – coś realnie a niemiłosiernie różowego i słodkiego do garanic bólu! (foto na końcu postu) ////// Antonio Sanchez lo conozco 17 anos ya. Formado como disenador siempre me ha sorprendido con su particular sensibilidad. Tonio es autor de diversos proyectos de diseno e incontable cantidad de graficas digitales. Colabora frecuente con Jorge Covarrubias el archirecto con quien disene la imagen de la cadena de sex shops Erotika. De hecho hubo un proyecto en el cual participamos los cuatro: jorge diseno la casa, con Jerónimo hicimos el jardín, yo me avente el diseno de espejo de agua y Tonio diseno una realmente impresionante cava de los vinos. Últimamente Sánchez colabora con su ex-novio – Carlos Diez Diez – una estrella creciente de la moda espanola (pronto en el pink forum) Conociendo las “Graficas de Saturno” – una serie de particularmente finos “Tules” digitales lo invite a participar en PND! contando con algún Sensibilísimo Pink Digital. Tonio cumplió con mis expectativas – arriba y abajo dos de las tres graficas de la serie “Pi-ink” (presentadas en forma de cajas de luz en la expo, acá en miniatura) Por otro lado quería mas de el – conociendo su natural atracción hacia lo lindo y bonito tenia muchas ganas de explorar este potencial suyo. Finalmente Antonio salio con fotos de sus cachorritos – esta fue la cosa – algo dulce – bastante cursi pero realmente conmovedor a la vez – dos caras de rosa en uno. (La imagen al final del post) ////// I know Antonio Sanchez for about 17 years – formed as designer he always surprised me with his particular sensibility. Tonio is author of many design projects and countless digital graphics. He also collaborate with the same architect with whom I did project of sex shop chain Erotika – Jorge Covarubbias, actually there was one architectural project during which we meet all three together with Jeronimo Hagerman. Jorge designed the house, together with Jeronimo we did the garden, I did mosaic for two water mirrors and Tonio designed absolutely mesmerizing wine cellar. Lately he is collaborating with his former boyfriend – rising star of Spanish fashion design – Carlos Diez Diez (soon on the Pink Blog) Knowing Antonio’s “Saturnine Graphics”- a set of particularly fine, computer generated meshes I invited him to PND! counting on some really sensitive Digital Pink. Tonio matched my expectations – here are two from his three “Pi-ink” images (presented as light boxes at PND!) in miniature. From the other hand I wanted from him more than I already know that I can expect- knowing his natural attraction to cuteness I wanted to explore also this side of him. Finally Tonio came up with picture of his recently born albino puppies. That was it – truly cute and truly pink! (see the image at the end of the post)

Roberto Baldazzini jest niekwestionowalną gwiazdą europejskiego komiksu erotycznego, w moim odczuciu nieporównanie bardziej interesującą niż jego sławny i niewątpliwie utalentowany kolega Milo Manara. Jego szlachetna, przypominająca drzeworyt kreska przywodzi mi na myśl innego wspaniałego rysownika Charlsa Burnsa. Uczestnictwo Baldazziniego w projekcie PND! sprawiło mi szczególną satysfakcję i to nie tylko ze względu na mój zachwyt dla urody jego rysunków ale również dlatego, że tacy jak on czy Burns artyści funkcjonujący w obrębie popkultury, rzadko mają okazję przeniknąć do elitarnego uniwersum sztuki współczesnej – a taka fragmentacja kultury wydaje mi się absurdalna. Baldazzini ma na swoim koncie wiele realizacji – Casa Howhard z której pochodzi ten rysunek wydaje mi się jedną z najciekawszych. Ta niesłychanie perwersyjna historia domu zamieszkłego przez cudownych transwestytów – idealne kreatury o porcelanowych twarzyczkach, gigantycznych piersiach i wiecznie pobudzonych członkach – jest jednocześnie (a przynajmniej pierwsza jej cześć) opowieścią o świecie idealnego spełnienia, gdzie każdy los na loterii jest wygranym a czas upływa radośnie pośród westchnień, uśmiechów i strumieni swobodnie płynącej spermy 🙂 ////// Roberto Baldazzini es una incuestionable estrella de la historieta erótica europea, desde mi perspectiva mucho mas interesante que su mundialmente reconocido e indudablemente talentoso colega Milo Manara. Su noble dibujo me recuerda los gravados en madera, hace pensar en otro fabuloso dibujante Charles Burns. La participación de Baldazzini en el PND! me causo particular satisfacción y no solamente debido a mi fascinación con la belleza de sus dibujo pero también porque los artistas pop como el o Burns raramente se difunden en el mundo de arte contemporáneo – semejante fragmentación de la cultura me parece algo absurdo. Baldazzini cuenta con varias publicaciones – Casa Howhard de la cual proviene este dibujo me parece ser una de las mas interesantes. Esta increíblemente perversa historia de la casa habitada por maravillosos travestís – criaturas ideales, con caras de porcelana, mega tetas y penes permanente excitados – cuenta a la vez (por lo menos su primera parte) acerca de un mundo de total satisfacción, donde todos ganan en la lotería y el tiempo fluye felizmente entre sonrisas, suspiros y desbordantes ríos de semen 🙂 ////// Roberto Baldazzini is unquestionable star of European erotic comic. From my point of view much more interesting than his world wide famous and undoubtedly talented colleague Milo Manara. His woodcut like noble line makes me think about other fabulous drawer Charles Burns. Baldazzini’s participation in PND! was particularly satisfactory for me – not only because of my fascination in the beauty of his drawings but also because pop-artist like him or Burns rarely appear at contemporary art forum and this kind of fragmentation of culture I find pretty absurd. Baldazzini counts with variety of publications – Casa Howhard (from which comes this drawing) is one of the most interesting for me. This incredibly perverted story of a house inhabited by marvelous transvestites with porcelain like faces, mega boobs and permanently awaked penises is at the same time a story of the world of total satisfaction (ad list its first part) where everybody wins the lottery and the time flows gently between smiles, sighs and rivers of cum 🙂

My virtual friend from Japan – Uleshka – just pointed that English version of Pink Statement is unavailable on the web and that I should put it on the blog. So here it is:

Pink Not Dead!

The title of the project is a paraphrase from the 1970’s famous punk slogan – Punk Not Dead! which we can freely translate as “Trash never dies!” – only a step away converting it into “Live trash!” however, Pink Not Dead! is far away from such a declaration. Likewise, the exhibition does not attempt at a simple glorification of the peripheries of sentimentalism.

Pink, at least during the last one hundred fifty years (since the concept of black and grey as masculine formal colors, with all of the seriousness that this implies) has connotations definitively pejorative. It is normally associated as superficial, effeminate and cheesy. The situation obviously varies depending on the geocultural context in which the spectator is located, therefore distinct perceptions of pink arise in Latin America, Asia or Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, in globalist terms (our reality) overall pink implies a false vision of happiness. This interpretation seems quite limiting and generally unsatisfactory. In the world of black and white political ideas that we are living today, it seems more fit to explore the whole rainbow and its peculiarities, of whose sum results in one or another extreme of this basic fundamentalist dichotomy.

Pink Not Dead! as a principal idea proposes a reflection on (and consequently revalorization of) the possible meanings and interpretations behind Pink as a concept. The mechanics is like implosion – explosion: first defining the spectrum of interest in “monochrome” with the decision of focusing on pink as the entire color range, afterwards expanding it and exploring the variety of “hues” that are contained.

Once entering the pink universe we are going to find ourselves curiously lost in between sensuality and innocence and unfasten the trip from serenity to perversion, sometimes without a return trip ticket. Here arise a variety of approximations and cases – from Eden-like garden floral habitats to death industries.

The project, which developed along 18 months, occurs in various dimensions and consists in numerous phases. Originally planned as an individual exhibition (therefore explaining my strong presence with a variety of different works), it quickly achieved a processed based collaboration. Seeing that the idea was to create a multidimensional sanctuary / multi-level archive on pink, the most natural act was to invite people from different origins and consequently different perspectives to delve into the matter.

Initially, there was the invitation of various artists: some of them already had existing pieces specifically related to the theme, and others were commissioned following the characteristics of their work and conceptual process. Some will be surely difficult to name as “pink” in the heart of their vision, a thing that was an enriching decision for the project, and consciously for that matter on behalf of the curatorial team and the participants.

After commissioning visual works, a thirst for expanding a possible verbal dimension remains. Therefore, the publication that will accompany the exhibition, in place of being a catalogue with respective commentaries on the work and vision of the artists, will result in a recompilation of different essays proposed by intellectuals, scientists, art historians and writers.

The third part of the project developed before anything as process, although also present in the exhibition and final publication consists in a series of social-philological exercises of the imagination, association and references of which will be made via the Internet with different groups of people. Pink Not Dead! for me is more than an artistic project ending in an exhibition. The intentions was always to accumulate, inside of available means, the biggest data possible, as well as reunite an archive of manifestations and opinions, and above all activate a mental-emotive dynamic in participants and users. Jorge Covarrubias – architekt z którym wspólnie zaprojektowaliśmy wizerunek graficzno-architektoniczny sieci sex shopów “Erotika” zrealizował w ramach PND! prosty a czujny projekt iluzionistyczno-przestrzenny. Tutaj prezentuję go w oryginalnej wersji z Galerii Garash (ściana pokryta różowym metalizowanym papierem i dwa przeciwległe lustra) – w Warszawie chciałem dokonać swoistej fuzji jego projektu i mojego Pink Mirror (różowe lustro – będące swoistym aktem wymuszenia różowej optyki na odbiorcy) Mimo iż realizacja warszawska funkcjonowała dobrze jako preludium do wystawy użytej folii zabrakło przezroczystości i efekt przestrzeni nieskończonej został w znacznej mierze zatracony. Mea Culpa! – ale podobno uczymy się na błedach – mam nadzieję, że przy okazji sztokholmskiej prezentacji uda się osiągnąćzamierzony efekt. ////// Jorge Covarrubias – arquitecto con quien disenamos juntos la imagen de la cadena de sex shops “Erotika” realizo dentro del PND! simple y sensible proyecto ilusorio-espacial. Acá esta presentado en su versión original (Garash Galería, muro cubierto de papel metalizado rosa y dos espejos colocados en las paredes opuestas) – en Varsovia quería hacer una fusión entre su proyecto y mi pieza “Pink Mirror” (espejo rosa – una experiencia de visión rosa forzada en el espectador) A pesar de que la realización varsoviana funciono bien como el preludio a la exposición, a la mica rosa que utilice le falto la transparencia y por lo mismo el efecto del espacio infinito perdió bastante de su fuerza. Mea Culpa! – Supuestamente uno aprende de sus propios errores – espero que en Estocolmo logramos el efecto deseado. ////// Jorge Covarrubias – architect with whom we designed together image of sex shop chain “Erotika” did for PND! a truly simple and very sensitive project – a space illusion. Here I am presenting it in its original version (realization from Garash Gallery – wall covered with pink metallic paper and two opposite mirrors) – in Warsaw I wanted to do a fusion between Jorge’s project and my piece “Pink Mirror” (act of pink terrorism: forcing pink vision on the spectator trough experience of pink reflection) The piece work well as a prelude to the Pink Cube but unfortunately because of low transparency of used pink foil the effect of infinite space was half lost. Mea Culpa! – We are supposed to learn from our own mistakes and I hope that in Stockholm I will be able to put it right together.

Ponieważ otwarłem wczoraj kolejną żałobną wystwę (Final Fantasy, Garash) Pomyślałem sobie, że to dobry pretekst do zrobienia małego przeglądu różowych trumien i innych pogrzebowych parafernalii. Na początek zdjęcie mojej pracy z PND! – “Pink Sorrow” – trzy trumienki dziecinne wykonane na zamówienie zanikającą już tradycyjną techniką przez zakład rodziny Jaramillo. Jest to swoisty pretekst do refleksji nad funkcjonalnością piękna a zarazem próba podsumowania oczywistych różowych fenomenów takich jak torty czy suknie ślubne w obrebie absurdalnie spolaryzownego perwersyjnego obiektu. Poniżej kilka przykładów różowych trumien dostępnych na rynku oraz link do
“Urn Przytulanek” – jednej z najbardziej zadziwiająch propozycji pogrzebowych na jakie zdażyło mi się natrafić w sieci, a która w swojej sentymentalnej groteskowości doskonale mieści się w obrębie projektu. ////// Como ayer noche abrí siguiente exposición fúnebre (Final Fantasy, Garash) pensé que es buena oportunidad para hacer una pequena revisión de ataúdes rosas y otras parafernalias fúnebres. Al principio esta la foto de una de mis piezas en el PND! – “Pink Sorrow” – tres ataúdes infantiles elaboradas por encargo en una técnica artesanal la cual todavía se conserva en la familia Jaramillo. La pieza es un especie de pretexto para la reflexión sobre la funcionalidad de la belleza y a la vez un intento de resumir la experiencia que traen semejantes banalidades rosas como vestidos de quince anos o pasteles dentro de un absurdamente polarizado objeto perverso. Abajo algunos ejemplos de ataúdes rosas accesibles en el mercado juntos con el link a la pagina de “Urnas de peluche” – una de las mas extraordinarias propuestas fúnebres la cual me toco encontrar y al a vez algo lo que se ubica perfectamente dentro del proyecto debido a su grotesco sentimentalismo. ////// As I opened yesterday night my next funeral exhibition (Final Fantasy, Garash) I thought that this is a good occasion to make a small review of pink coffins and other paraphernalia on the blog. At the beginning there is a picture of one of my pieces from PND! – “Pink Sorrow” – three children coffins craft-made especially for the show by the Jaramillo family. The piece stands for a sort of pretext to awake reflections around functionalism of the beauty at the same trays to resume the experience of such obvious and exaggerated pink artifacts like wedding cakes and dresses into an absurdly polarized perverted object. Below we have some cases of actual pink coffins available right now in the market and link to “Huggable Urns” – one of the most bizarre funeral proposals I found on the web, which fits perfectly into the project because of its grotesque sentimentalism.

Dwie z moich prezentowanych na PND! prac na pewno nie miałyby wizualnego impaktu jaki wierzę udało się im osiągnąć gdyby nie współudział czujnych projektantek jakimi są Carla i Genoveva przy ich produkcji. Różowy Granitur z tradycyjnego meksykańskiego pasiaka był oryginalnie moim pomysłem ale oszlifować projekt pomogła mi Carla Fernandez – jej zawdzięczam decyzję o rytmach zbiegających się na plecach w literę V – na początku myślałem raczej o tradycyjnym pionowym deseniu. Podobnie rzecz ma się w przypadku różowego hełmofonu – mimo, iż jest on poniekąd bezpośrednią reakcją na “Czterech pancernych” i ewokować ma różową energię jaką babcine, matczyne czy siotrzane ręce kodowały w wełnie szydełkując szalik dla idącego na front Janka, Saszy czy Hansa – swoją ostateczną formę zawdzięcza magicznemu szydełku Genovevy. Dzięki Dziewczyny! ////// Dos de mis piezas presentadas en PND! seguramente no alcanzarian impacto visual que creo tienen sin el apoyo de Carla y Genoveva en su elaboración y diseno. El Traje Rosa hecho del tradicional zarape mexicano fue originalmente mi idea pero fue Carla Fernández quien me ayudo pulir su forma final – le agradezco la decisión de acomodar los ritmos de las franjas a la manera de la letra V – inicialmente he pensado en un mucho mas simple diseno vertical. El asunto esta paralelo en el caso de “La gorra del Tanquista” – a pesar de ser una directa reacción al positivismo militar el cual es parte de mi herencia histórica y educación (o mas bien indoctrinacion) socialista y a la vez un gesto lírico el cual evoca el amor materializado en las bufandas tejidas por las mamas, abuelitas o hermanas para sus soldaditos – nunca quedaría igual sin la magia del ganchillo de Genoveva. Gracias Chicas! ////// Two of my pieces from PND! definitely would not reach visual impact I believe they have if not the collaboration of Carla and Genoveva in they production and design. The Pink Suit based on traditional Mexican zarape was my idea originally but it was Carla Fernandez who help me to polish its final form – specially because she the one who visualized lines becoming a V shape on it – I was initially thinking on much simpler design based on vertical rhythms. Similar is the matter with “Pink Tank Headset” – even if it is a direct reaction to “military positivism” that is part of my historical legacy and socialistic education (or indoctrination) and at the same time an lyrical gesture that intents to symbolize the materialized love of mothers, grannies and sisters for they little soldiers – it will never be the same without the magic of Genoveva’s crochet hook. Kwestia bycia albo nie artystą, w wąskim znaczeniu tego terminu, nigdy nie była zasadniczym kryterium udziału w projekcie Pink Not Dead! W wystawie udział wzieły między innymi dwie projektantki mody: Carla Fernandez i Genoveva Alvarez. Genoveva, z wykształcenia aktorka, w ciągu ostatnich lat dała się poznać jako prawdziwa Bogini Szydełka. W kontekście projektu rzuciłem jej wyzwanie: reinterpretację esencjonalnie feteszystycznego i zasadniczo spolaryzowanego wobec uniwersum słodkich wełenek kostiumu nurka. Poniżej efekt – Totalna Wełniana Rafa Koralowa. ////// La cuestión de ser o no ser artista en el estrecho sentido de la palabra nunca fue un criterio fundamental en el proyecto Pink Not Dead! En la exposición entre otros participaron también dos disenadoras de moda: Carla Fernández y Genoveva Álvarez. Genoveva siendo formada como actriz se dejo conocer en los últimos anos como verdadera Diosa de Ganchillo. Le pedí un reto: reinterpretar en lana algo esencialmente fetichista y totalmente opuesto en su carácter a lo con que suele tratar: traje de buzo. Abajo podemos ver el efecto un Traje-Arrecife de Lana. ////// In the Pink Not Dead! project being an artist in a narrow sense of the term never was main condition of participation. Between invited people among others are two fashion designers: Carla Fernandez and Genoveva Alvarez. Genoveva originally have the actress formation but during last years she let herself know as a Goddess of Knitting. I ask her to take a challenge: a wool reinterpretation of something essentially fetishistic and totally opposite in the character like a diving suit. In effect Genvoveva contributed with below presented creation a Total Woolen Coral Reef Suit.

W ostatnich dniach Nicolas Vale zakupił do swojej kolekcji jedną z najsłodszych prac z PND! – “Minę” Jeronimo Hagermana. Nicolas posiada w swoich zbiorach również jedną z moich różowych fotografii – “Cream Pie”. Jeszcze jedna i będzie Pink Trio – ja sam lubiłbym mieć “Różową partyturę” Thomasa Glassforda. ////// En los últimos días Nicolas Vale adquirió una de las mas dulces piezas de PND! – ” La Mina” de Jeronimo Hagerman. Nicolas tiene en su colección también una de mis fotos rosas – “Cream Pie”. Una mas y sera el Pink Trio – a mi personalmente me encantaria tener la “Partitura Rosa” de Thomas Glassford 2001. ////// In the last days Nicolas Vale bought for his collection one of the sweetest pieces from PND! – “Mina” by Jeronimo Hagerman.
