The mélange of kawaii and gore, hardcore sentimentalism, theatre of innocence, pseudo-rococo, post-romantic / post-baroque love-death obsession, however superficial, had become important components of the contemporary. It’s a fact. Actually never sex and death had been so close at the popular level. Japan lost the II WW but definitely win the final pop-cultural battle of the millennium. West is infected by perverse cult of deadly cuteness. Lolita has become a true icon of post-modernism.
